Overview

University Instructors, LLC is seeking talented people from diverse backgrounds to lead, change, and inspire students in the Kyrene area. In this role you will serve students in special education programs as a classroom teacher.

Competencies of the Teacher

The Teacher shall possess knowledge of local, state and federal curriculum and assessment requirements as well as current policy related to Arizona Standards in their area of assignment. Additionally, listed below are the competencies required for this position:

Responsibilities

Essential Duties of the Teacher

  • Collaborates with General Education & Special Education teachers, Related Service providers, Instructional Assistants, school administrative teams, district personnel and other relevant staff to support delivery of instructional services and supports for students with disabilities.
  • Develops, reviews, revises and implements Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Prepares and delivers specially designed instruction, aligned to grade-level standards, including differentiated curriculum and teaching methods to address learning styles, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Engages in frequent data collection to monitor student progress toward IEP goals.
  • Implements (and may serve as facilitator for) IDEA-required processes (e.g., IEP, Evaluation, Manifestation Determination).
  • Supports teachers and staff on the implementation of IEPs at the school level.
  • Sets expectations for the Instructional Assistants’ role while working with students. Meets regularly with Instructional Assistants to provide feedback and support, and follow up on expectations.
  • Possesses understanding of Federal and state laws, and implements board policies and District procedures related to students with disabilities.
  • Ensures instructional quality and compliance with Federal & State laws and District policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with District and school staff related to state and local assessments (AzMERIT, Interims, Alternate Assessment), assisting in data analysis to improve student achievement.
  • Works with school teams to coordinate and/or participate in school and department projects and committees.

Teaching roles are available in these special education settings:

  • Cross-Categorical Behavior is a specialized assignment that instructs students who have a wide range of significant social, emotional, and behavioral disabilities. The Cross-Categorical Behavior Teacher plans for and teaches all academic core subjects as well as social-emotional learning skills to address the stated needs in students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP). The Cross-Categorical Behavior Teacher supports with case management for students with significant social, emotional, and behavioral disabilities. The teacher collaborates with general education teachers, instructional assistants, related service providers, and other relevant staff to ensure that students with disabilities receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment.
  • Cross-Categorical Developmental is a specialized assignment that instructs students who have a wide range of cognitive, developmental, communication, social, emotional, and physical disabilities. The Cross-Categorical Developmental Teacher plans for and teaches reading, writing, math, speaking, listening, and adaptive and social-emotional skills to address the stated needs in students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP). The Cross-Categorical Developmental Teacher supports with case management for students with cognitive and/or developmental delays. The teacher collaborates with general education teachers, instructional assistants, related service providers, and other relevant staff to ensure that students with disabilities receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment.
  • Resource is a specialized assignment that instructs students who have a wide range of learning, developmental, emotional, and physical disabilities. The Resource Teacher plans for and teaches reading, writing, math, speaking, listening, and social-emotional skills to address the stated needs in students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP). The Resource Teachers collaborates with general education teachers, instructional assistants, related service providers, and other relevant staff to ensure that students with disabilities receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in specialized area of assignment; or

Equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above Willingness to complete requirements to earn valid Arizona Teacher Certification (Special Education or Special Education Intern) by the end of School Year 2024-2025.

Compensation

$28-32 Hourly
